SAGE Georges Vanier Makes Canada Proud at SAGE World Cup

Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) is an international network that links high school students with opportunities to make the world a better place.

On May 29, SAGE Georges Vanier SS was crowned 2010 SAGE Canada Nationals Champions. As the national champions, SAGE Georges Vanier SS represented Canada at the 2010 SAGE World Cup which was held in Cape Town, South Africa. From July 23-27, twenty-two SAGE teams from around the world competed to be crowned the SAGE World Champions.

SAGE Canada is proud to announce the results from the competition:

  • SAGE Georges Vanier SS was awarded 3RD Place in the “The Grossman Family’s International SAGE Award for Environmental Stewardship”!
  • Out of 22 countries competing, SAGE Georges Vanier SS was awarded 3RD Place!

For the second year SAGE Canada has operated, we are proud to be part of the growth of our teams and how well they have executed on the global stage. Congratulations to the SAGE Singapore for being crowned SAGE World Champions as well as the finalists (in order): USA, Canada, South Africa and Nigeria.

2010 SAGE Canada National Competition

SAGE (Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship), is an international network that links teams of secondary school students to nearby university and college students, business leaders and civic leaders. The primary goal of SAGE is to advance youth entrepreneurship and community service around the world, emphasizing economic opportunity, ethical business practices, social responsibility, civic engagement and environmental awareness.

On Saturday, May 29, SAGE Canada was proud holding its first National Competition at the Ted Rogers School of Management. With 4 teams competing including SAGE Point Grey from Vancouver British Columbia.

Here are the results from the 2010 SAGE Canada National Competition:

- Roy Parteno from St. Marguerite D’Youville Awarded “2010 Faculty Adviser of the Year Award”

- Above: Gajan Jegatheeswaran from Georges Vanier Secondary School Awarded “2010 Student Leader of the Year Award”

- Above: SAGE St. Marguerite D’youville Awarded the “2010 Spirit of SAGE Award”

- Above: SAGE Agincourt CI – Awarded “2010 SAGE Canada National Runner-Up”

- Above: SAGE Georges Vanier Secondary School Awarded “2010 SAGE Canada National Champions”

Georges Vanier Secondary School will be competing in the Global competition in Cape Town, South Africa from July 26-29. Best of luck to Georges Vanier Secondary School to represent our nation as Team Canada!

SAGE Canada’s Regionals Competition 2010

On March 27th, 2010, SAGE Canada held its 2nd annual Regional competition at Ryerson University. This year, four high schools from the Greater Toronto Area competed to be crowned as the Regional Champions. Throughout the year, SAGE chapters organize projects and events to impact their school and their community. These initiatives are then showcased through a competition at the Regional, National and even Global level.

With more than half of the schools creating their first SAGE chapter, the competition was very close. Congratulations to the Regional Runner-up, Agincourt Collegiate and SAGE Canada’s Regional Champions Georges Vanier Secondary!


SAGE Regional Champions – Georges Vanier Secondary

Later this year, schools will showcase their efforts at the National Competition where a fifth school, Point Grey Secondary from Vancouver, BC will be competing to represent Canada at the Global Competition. SAGE Canada’s National Competition will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Ryerson University, in the Ted Rogers School of Management Business Building. The National Champion will have the opportunity to compete on the global stage held in Cape Town, South Africa from July 26-29.

Project Management Secrets with Rory Burke

Project management is the process of systematically executing the necessary steps to take an idea of a project and make it a reality. In order for SAGE chapters to succeed, project management needs to be addressed within each chapter.

To aid each SAGE chapter to run more efficiently and more effictively, SAGE Canada reached out a project management specialist, Rory Burke. Mr. Burke has been studying project management for more than 20 years and lecturing around the world to teach how to manage projects effectively.

The goal of the interview is to shed light on the importance of project management and how much of an impact it has to the overall success of a SAGE Canada chapter. In this 54:32 minute interview, you will learn:

  • How to choose the project that is right for your team.
  • A 4 phase process that can transform weak projects into SHOCKINGLY successful ones
  • The truth about influential leadership that make the whole team take action
  • Much, much more!

As a supplement to the interview, SAGE Canada has created a supplementary document that will further illustrate the processes mentioned as well as the key points of the interview that can me immediately implemented.
